Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Clean Water Modeller with in-depth expertise in InfoWorks WS Pro to support the development and application of water distribution models. You will play a key role in supporting strategic planning, operational optimisation, leakage reduction, and regulatory compliance across potable water supply networks.
Responsibilities will include:
Model Development & Calibration:
Lead the development, maintenance, and calibration of clean water hydraulic models using InfoWorks WS Pro.
Validate models against telemetry, logger, and flow/pressure test data to ensure model accuracy and reliability.
Operational and Strategic Planning:
Conduct scenario modelling to assess network performance under normal and stress conditions (e.g., peak demand, outage events, contamination response).
Support operational teams with real-time and predictive modelling for pressure management, network reconfiguration, and resilience assessments.
Investment & Growth Planning:
Provide evidence-based modelling for capital investment planning (e.g., mains reinforcement, DMA creation, new development impact).
Collaborate with asset planners and engineers to optimise solutions for WRMP, AMP and business plan programmes.
Water Quality Modelling:
Simulate water age, chlorine decay, and booster performance using WS Pro tools to support water quality risk management.
Analyse impacts of operational changes on service levels, discolouration risk, and compliance with water quality regulations.
Leadership & Innovation:
Mentor and support junior modellers and analysts.
Develop and improve modelling standards, QA/QC procedures, and workflow automation (e.g., Python, SQL).
Champion best practice in data integration, demand forecasting, and digital twin initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
Prepare and present clear technical reports and visualisations to internal and external stakeholders.
Engage with operational, planning, GIS, and regulatory teams to align model outcomes with business objectives.
About You
- Understanding of water and wastewater engineering within the UK Water Industry.
- Essential: MEng/BEng/BSc or HNC in Engineering, Environmental, or a related science subject
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.
