Overview

We are looking to recruit a dedicated radiographer to work within the plain imaging department across all WUTH sites (Arrowe Park, Clatterbridge, St Catherine's and Victoria Central Hospitals). This staff member will have a specialist interest in IR/Cath Lab and will be trained to cover both areas and participate in the OOH service for both plain imaging and IR/Cath Lab.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who can engage with a broad range of teams, disciplines and staff. We actively encourage band 6 Radiographers to take on extra responsibilities (e.g., RPS, H+S links, safeguarding and QSI champions).

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) is a large, multidisciplinary acute Trust providing a wide variety of services including Trauma, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Women’s and Children’s, Medicine and Cancer services. The Trust is embarking on CPD, advance practice and training and development of Radiographers and QSI accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the 24/7 service delivery of both plain film and IR/CL, with rotation through ED, MSK clinics, GP clinics IP/OPs, theatres, dental suites and provide a portable service to wards and critical care departments.
  • Act as senior and as a co-ordinator when working in plain film to ensure the effective and efficient running of the service and to facilitate changes to improve the service.
  • Report to the Principal Radiographers for Plain Imaging and IR/CL and liaise regularly, escalating issues and devising and implementing solutions.
  • Ensure excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders to meet varying demands.
  • Be responsible for the training and development of radiographic staff and contribute to their CPD.
  • Participate in the QA programme for the plain imaging service.
  • Incorporate into the IR on-call service running 24/7.
  • Work within IR/CL with some rotation through ED, MSK, GP clinics IP/OPs, theatres, dental suites and provide a portable service to wards and critical care departments.

Requirements and Experience

  • Experience in plain imaging and a specialist interest in IR/Cath Lab support.
  • Ability to engage with a broad range of teams and staff and to take on extra responsibilities as outlined (RPS, H+S links, safeguarding, QSI champions).
  • Commitment to CPD, training, and development of radiography staff and contribution to QA and accreditation activities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call service for IR/CL and Shifts across sites as required.

Site and Role Details

  • APH has 1 IR suite and 1 Cath Lab, 5 DR rooms including whole spine and leg length limb examinations, 1 CR room, 1 dental suite, 3 mobile II’s, 1 fluoro room and 6 DR mobile machines.
  • You will be incorporated into the IR on-call service running 24/7.
