As an Enabler at Cappagh Contractors, you will play a crucial role in supporting the timely and efficient delivery of clean water infrastructure and smart metering projects. You will be responsible for preparing sites, ensuring all prerequisites are in place, coordinating resources and access, and supporting operational teams to ensure task orders can proceed without delay.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and prepare work sites in advance of operational teams, ensuring site readiness for clean water and smart metering installations or maintenance.
  • Liaise with local authorities, utilities, customers, and third parties to secure permits, permissions, and safe access to sites.
  • Coordinate the delivery and set-up of materials, equipment, and welfare facilities as required for scheduled works.
  • Resolve access or logistical issues, communicating with clients, residents, or site users to minimise disruptions and enable timely progress.
  • Conduct pre-start checks and basic risk assessments to confirm that all enabling conditions (such as traffic management, signage, and site safety measures) are in place.
  • Provide daily updates and handovers to supervisors, ensuring all preparatory activities are documented and any concerns escalated promptly.
  • Assist with basic site duties such as barrier set-up, minor excavation preparation, or meter box readiness as needed.
  • Support effective communication between project managers, field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure readiness for each task order.
  • Complete all required paperwork, checklists, and site records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Uphold Cappagh Contractors’ standards for health, safety, environmental compliance, and customer service.
  • Skills and Experience

  • Experience in site preparation, utilities, construction, or a similar operational support role.
  • Good practical understanding of construction and utility site requirements, preferably in water or metering projects.
  • Ability to coordinate and multitask in a fast-paced environment, and to solve problems on the ground as they arise.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
  • Good communication abilities for interaction with team members, clients, and members of the public.
  • IT literate for basic reporting and documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Qualifications

  • CSCS card or equivalent industry accreditation.
  • NRSWA (Streetworks) accreditation desirable.
